Hello! Because it is Thursday, today I will present you a
personality in the field of Romanian scientists.
Horia Hulubei (born
November 15, 1896, Iasi - died November 22, 1972, Bucharest) was a Romanian
physicist, member of the Romanian Academy.
Higher education, which
began in 1915, the high school, are interrupted by the entry of Romania into
the war. He fought on the front as infantry in Romania, taking part in the
glorious battle of Marasesti and then as a pilot in France, a group of young
people recruited by the head of the French military mission in Romania, General
Berthelot, was wounded and decorated.
After World War resumes
his studies and devote themselves to end their education, becoming successively
assistant, then assistant professor of physical chemistry at the University of
Iasi. Wanting to be in contact with the most representative scholars of the
time, conducting a research in Physical Chemistry Laboratory at the Sorbonne,
Paris, lab led at that time by the famous scientist Jean Perrin - working here
with interruptions in During the years 1927 to 1938.
In 1933, he obtained
his doctorate in physics in Paris, peaking director of research at the
University of Paris. Horia Hulubei activates held in the country, is, in turn,
associate professor at the University of Iasi and then Bucharest, where,
besides intense scientific research work, has a very rich research and
organization of the Institute of Physics, created in 1948 and he runs until
1965, when it passes the head of the Institute of Atomic Physics, the newly
created.
Horia Hulubei has the
merit of being formed generations of specialists in atomic and nuclear physics.
Meanwhile, he was awarded and through important scientific discoveries. Thus
obtained - first in the world - X-ray spectra in gases. To this end, he built a
special spectrometer, own conception. Roman scholar has made important
contributions in neutron physics, the study of transuranic elements in the
study of nuclear reactions, especially in terms of nuclear interactions at low
energies, medium and high. He studied also decays.
For his very
remarkable, Horia received numerous awards Hulubei science from the country and
abroad, being simultaneously a member of many academies and scientific
societies prestigious national and international in 1937 was elected a
corresponding member of Romanian Academy and member of the Academy in 1955 RPR
"One of my greatest satisfactions - he said - is that by establishing the
Institute of Atomic Physics, has made the possibility of increases in the
country eminent physicists staff - many of whom have already known the world
works, bringing prestige of science Romanian and ensuring the exchange of
tomorrow in this sector. They made a significant contribution to the country's
economy through their work. "
And here is how Romania
proved by another man that can offer something special.
